Symbolism on watchkey

Can anyone identify what these symbols mean on this watchkey? Is it fraternal or educational in origin?
One side has a globe the other side has stars.
That globe reminds me of the one on the King's Mountain Military Institute buttons.
Any help?

I don't personally think the designs are supposed to represent anything. I feel they were filling blank space with designs to make it look 'fancy'
