Yesterday I went up to meet a fellow employee halfway in the state, so he could bring me things I need next week on my side of the central mountains. He had a wonderful drive going his way west of the continental divide and I on the east side of the great divide. Leaving the front range corridor was a blanket of fog, but I knew from checking the weather I was going to drive high above it all. Once I got on top of the fog the temps went from 40° down were I live to 60°+ in the high county. When I returned home at 5: pm the fog was still around and still cold. I'll bet a lot of front range folks will be driving up to veiw the trees this Saturday, before all the leaves blow away, as they are beginning to do in some areas already.

My daughter lives out there now. Going to visit her in a couple weeks. Can't wait. Beautiful country!

You should see a bit of color still, but if you can make your way over to the fare west of the state along the western border in to the Colorado Plateau region the seasonal change there is right behind the higher elevations. It can still be quite sunny and warm during the days over that way. Check out all the ancient native sites found all over that area.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks

Wow....absolutely gorgeous, especially the shot with the Aspens.

My wife and I were driving back upriver this evening after celebrating
our 20th, and we both commented about how the fall colors this
year seem to be rather muted. One likely reason is that Fall doesn't
seem to have arrived here yet, as daytime temps are still in the
mid-70's, and we've only had one evening of rain in the last 3 months.

Lived in Washington for over 45 years, and can't ever recall an Oct.
like this. The rain and cold generally come back about mid-Sept.
We need some good rainy days so the river will rise, and that horde
of Coho salmon hanging out in the salt water can finally start coming
upriver and begin to spawn.

I've experienced quite a few days of rain all across Colorado this year. During the first part of summer it was really hot and dry, but the rains finally arrived with enough to keep the fires in the state from being out of control this season. It's been sometime since that's happened. Sadly that wasn't the case for the west coast states this year, but when have the seasonal changes in the weather ever been consistent year after year, throughout the various regions of this planet. Seems to me these lean times and long lasting droughts have happened again and again over time. Thank God Egypt had Joseph on their team as told in Genesis 41:54. These days when the weather doesn't cooperate with the way we think it should some think we can fix it somehow.

Yep, pretty much every franger who could drive has been up here the last two weekends. No major headaches, a few complaints about gapers almost causin accidents. But they're always a decent crowd. Heavy traffic, though. I got like for me a mini-vacation of today and tomorrow off, so I think I'll head down south and do some gaping myself, haha!

Yeah it's always nice to take the time to enjoy a Rocky Mountain fall. These are a few I took here down below walking the dog out back in the field. Still getting a trickle water out of the little slough that's generally dry as a bone this time of year. It's spring feed and a great little waterhole for the coyotes and my dog.
