I started gridding from the opposite end of the field today. We had done quite well here before the deep plough, so I was hoping for more good stuff.
After 3.5 hours of not much except the Roman (I will mention later), my mind was beginning to wonder. The plough marks which I was following for my gridding got a bit unstraight & I straightened it by missing out a small section about 1 run width & 3/4s of the length. My mind said 'carry on your not getting much anyway, leave it'. I battled with myself & thought 'no I will fill the gap, stick to the system'. I filled the gap & half down I got the only hammered of the day. Could have been a different story

My lucky - Henry V Hammered :icon_thumright:
My first Roman Coin of Tacitus AD275-76 - Silvered AE Antoninianus. Ticinum mint. IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG, radiate, draped & cuirassed bust right / VICTORIA GOTTHI, Victory standing left, holding wreath & palm, P in ex. RIC 172, Cohen 157, Sear5 11821 :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: Only on the throne 2 years, I haven't fully researched but I think its rare/scarce. (nice album coin)
3 other Roman Bronzes
17th C halfpenny Token which I need.
3 Lead Tokens
1697 Farthing
Snake head section of a Roman Bronze Bracelet (pictured in the Buckle)
bits...

Only did a little over 4 hours, trying to pace myself for the rest of the week.

I remembered saying to people I have recently taught, do it systematically & cover it all. I doubled back, thinking most of the way that I was wasting my time, & out she popped, didn't have time to think it was a good signal. Good job I listerned to myself on this occasion!

Congrats on the Henry V Hammered ....nice coin.

Henry V (16 September 1386 – 31 August 1422) was King of England from 1413 until his death. From an unassuming start his military successes in the Hundred Years' War, culminating with his famous victory at the Battle of Agincourt, come close to uniting the realms of England and France under his rule.
