Above was the last time we did half of the inlet. It was the better half & this field has only just come to the top of the list, because it was the blank half that we just needed to confirm after the deep plough. (might have brought stuff up) We now know where not to bother in the future after doing nearly 4 man hours with just 1 thimble & towards the end of the 2nd hour a chunky silver ring. At first I thought the ring might be 16-17th C, but after researched the Crowned I, it could be 15-16th C. I'll let the experts work it out. It's about 10.4g & would have been about 20 pennies worth of silver at the time, so someone of wealth.
After 3.5hrs the Inlet was complete so we decided to try out luck further into the field on the high ground for 1.5 hrs. I found a noisy patch where I did a tiny grid & got a Hammered Soldino & Cru'dad got a hammered OTWBTTC!

1 Scrappy
18th C Royal Navy Button
Tudor Thimble
Henry III Penny, nice one from a scarce mint - Willem of Oxford.
Italian Hammered Soldino 1400-1415.
15-16th C? SILVER RING (Fits my middle finger nicely, but not sure if I'll get it back yet....)

Beautiful silver ring find Cru. :occasion14:
I'm trying to imagine the importance of the person it was made for and the significance of the engraving.

Hope you and your Dad are both well,

'I' is the initial of the owner. 'I' was a J, so John or James is pretty likely.

Thank you for the follow up information Cru.
It's not likely I'll ever find one of those here in Canada, but you never know.
