Saw them with Heart, I think in 1979. (Some what blurry memory days)
Then again a yr or so later.

Hit the fairgrounds hard today. Tons of pull tabs, lots of change, managed a silver nickel, Canadian penny, mood ring, and a pin. My luck is crap. I put a ton of effort and still oh well.

Well that beats my outing from a beat to death site in the bush.
I got 2 headstamps 6" .
I got a pretty good sounding 72, and it stayed locked on.
Dug checked still on 72, and over a foot down I dug this small 2"×4" lock plate up.
Nothing really special but I sure made sure the hole was quiet.
It really did show me what the machine can do.

This fairground doesn't seem anyone has metal detected it much surprisingly too much change and change is usually picked off by those whom are inexperienced. So tells me not many people hit the fairgrounds often. Lots of change, and finding a few old coins deep. There's potential my coil just didn't go over anything all that great the time I looked around.

Those are good finds. I've always liked fair grounds, the one near me produced for years! Now there's a Dollar General there.

I think there's potential the few hours I spent there today and yesterday came up with lots of change and pull tabs. Normally lots of pull tabs you'd say that's bad but for me that means gold can be there. If pull tabs are coming up it means no ones cleaned out targets that could be gold.

I'm not sure I'd have to research but found two coins from the 40s the Canadian nickel and silver nickel today. So it appears at least 40s. Could be older though

We have a few that date 150-200yrs old.
Beat to death, but as new technology arrives things are still found.
I remember going under the bleachers-the Explorer went into overload mode.🤣
There was probably plenty of good targets, but not my thing.

I dug about 100 pull tabs my knees didn't appreciate that. Only got the damned mood ring for all that effort lol. Like I said my luck is shite a bit of proof is that some lady was walking her dog comes up to me and says look I found this gold ring in the plaza. I'm like look I found pull tabs with my metal detector lol

I was never a gold hound, digging tabs all day for a few grams of yellow bit the dust in the mid 80's.
Water hunting might a better option, then again the season is really too short around here.
Might give it a go this coming year if things go along ok.

I just take the options I have. I'm limited so doing the work for gold is my best bet currently. One day it will pay off. I don't give up easily.

I should of taken a photo of today's winner.
Strong signal, dug down, still in the hole, dug some more, target disappeared-
Like how did that happen? I had even pinpointed it, but it was deeper.
Nothing! Filled the hole back in tamped it down-nothing.
Picked up the shovel and there was a camp fire can wrapped folded tightly on the blade.
Those Boy Scouts buried their trash....grumble/grumble...

Lol I've dug lots of deep pieces of slaw. The Deus loves finding those deep and foil

There were downed trees, he was laboring in clearing them, that was it.
Well before this COVID thing.
Rookster had COVID, went to the hospital and that was the last we heard about that.
Miss them both

Back in Indiana and the cold weather after spending the holiday weekend back home on the gulf coast. No chance to go swinging but was able to fuel up on gulf seafood to carry me through the next couple of weeks until I get home again to finish out the year.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend and those that were able to swing a coil found some goodies!
