Lol it just got to me as brought back feels oh school years I was the quiet one that never talked so people would say mean things and act harshly. So the reaction of assuming I was some bad person or something bugged me. Of course I can't blame some for caution especially a woman on her own especially these days. Just in the moment my feeling were hurt just an over reaction on my part. But I did well and regardless was completely polite the whole interaction.
Morning John

Time to pull the :crybaby2:card.

Get a nice card-put your feelings in the card.
Just drop it off
Let the chips fall-but maybe you're just 2 peas in a pod.

Dear home owner
First of all I would sincerely apologize for disturbing/scaring you the other day.

I suffer from....... and detecting helps me........overcome my..........

It was the first time I have ever knocked on a strangers door.
Always have known the property owners before.
We just moved here recently and I know nobody here.
So I built up enough courage to knock, and ask but I was totally crushed when I heard "No"
I felt like a criminal the way you reacting to my present.
(I fully understand that I am a stranger, knocking on the door)

I assure you I am just a person that has a hobby which they've passionate about.

Once again I am so sorry for my intrusion.

If there is any reconsideration on detecting the yard-please contact me at .............
This is my address and family..........

Signed
Sad John

Mornin all.
Good Morning RC
Thanks again for the windy/rainy day
Picked up a porcelain topped table this morning from an auction
Pretty good shape-though the staining is in the top.
Have you cleaned white porcelain before?
Water did a tad, hand sanitizer 80% a very little tad so I'm at the :dontknow:stage.
Just going in the summer kitchen.
Though for $26 I can live with the staining-but I will hear it in the ear-stained :BangHead::laughing7:

I can assure you it'd just freak her out more. I'm just accepting that permission isn't happening and leave it at that. It was easy to see she was just one of those types fearful of people in general. So I'll leave her be and let her live in her world

Great table!

Last course of salvage the top can be wet sanded with fine grit .

Like the old wise man said "Try first on a small test area"

Hmmmmm! Is right
What does the other side look like?
20221204_085526.jpg

Crude, no marks, baroque era, !!
Spanish ? Or Dutch ? Its an old piece from the lower keys. Spanish gold jewelry has been found in the past here, and I've found Dutch origin stoneware pottery frags here.....several intact bartman jugs have been recovered in our lease box offshore with a large 3 legged cauldron !! I've been tracking the ever so suttle evidence of spanish and Dutch shipwreck survivors on this shore, and hurricane Ian has opened the door for discovery here. This piece could be gun furniture or knife related.....I could be way off too, and I thought maybe a wick adjustment knob from a fancy oil lamp.....honestly its a mystery piece and im not sure of age. It was way down in storm surge damaged area. Compared to other spanish shipwreck artifacts its very similar in its look, feel, and construction......but what is it !! ??

It has too much of a curvature to be a knob/handle backer from furniture.
