Frost over night but a very mild day for this time of year & the sun was out. The ground has dried & is no longer sticky, making life a little easier.
This mega grid starts on the journey up & is shaped like a backwards Z, it now takes about 1 hour to do just 1 complete run. By the time we have finished it will be the most comprehensive survey of this field we have ever done.
78 buttons; best 1 day total from this field.

Today we did 15 mins shy of 6 hours;

8 scrappies (1 holed)
2 Lead Token
Jetton
Buckles
Scrap silver spoon bowl
Roman Military Dolphin Buckle bit
Roman & Saxon Hair Pins
Neolithic Flint bit
Hammered Penny of Ed I
Roman Silver Denarius of M.Plaetorius M.f.Cestianus 67BC (lots of detail for this period of coin, circa 100 years before the invasion; one we need)
Note they have incorrect date of 57BC instead of 67BC (but a nice example to look at);

Always love the neolithic bits....is the Roman coin a first? 100 years prior the invasion is pretty cool!

Congratulations and please wish Cru'dad a Happy birthday for me!

I'm always amazed at the sheer volume of your finds Crusader. I'm guessing both you and Cru'dad are pretty sore after a full day out in the fields. Congrats on another great hunt.

An early one! Always a pleasure to get one.
You know i love the flint you get. Complete different in the way it is knapped.
