I found these old chain links at the top of LAUERL HILL with my GARRET
these are very old
what kind of iron are these?
are they worth anything
I seen similar ones on google for 500 bucks or so
but who knows
these are pretty old

I found some stuff they left

check out a video of me unearthing the chains

And by the way, bandicoot, I was not trying to show how smart I am and I don't appreciate you making a snap decision about my comments. I was only trying to offer some cautious advice in case the poster is not aware of certain laws protecting historic artifacts. :laughing7:

I don,t really care what you appreciate. The thread is old,the poster is long gone. Your advice is not accurate and doesn,t even apply here.Admit it,you stepped on your crank.Just let it go and maybe do better next time!

Well you did tell them to stop breaking the law when you had zero idea if they were actually doing so. Anyway an old piece of chain isn’t historic. It’s just old. So are rocks.
This is the last thing I have to say on this issue: I never told anyone to "stop breaking the law". I only pointed out what the law was pertaining to historic artifacts on public land. OK, I'm done. :BangHead:

Well said, Tesorodeoro, but might as well speak to the wall. If I mess up I will fess up. Some folks can not bring themselves to take that high road. Thanks for trying.

By the way, the top of Laurel Hill where he made his discovery is in the Mt Hood National Forest.

Thought you had finished.
The point is as has been pointed out numerous times, you DID NOT KNOW that when you made original post. Why don't you drop this and admit you messed up. The mature thing to do. I am done with it and will not respond to any more of these posts. Have a pleasant day.

Took you all night to figure that out? Your " I never told anyone to stop breaking the law" vs "pointed out what the law was" is pure semantics worthy of a career politician. Best part of your post is OK,I,m done. We.ll see if you can at least keep that promise.

Very nice find. I'm no expert, but they look old. There is an old stage stop in Selma, outside of San Antonio that has been restored, and is now a park and visitor center for the town. Never even knew it was there, as the area around it was overgrown. Might have to stop in and see if they have anything like your chains in there, along with other goodies like coins, etc. on display.

His chain is modern electrowelded twisted link chain.I,ve used many feet of it on traps back when I ran a trapline.
