I'm confused. Your image filename says "mortar, pestle for children's toys" (in Dutch).

I would think that's what it is (a pestle) although not necessarily for children. Double-ended pestles, usually brass not copper, came in a variety of sizes and styles. Small ones may have been apothecary items rather than toys.

Here's a couple; the first one is large and the second one tiny. Both probably early 1900s.

That's what I thought it was, but others said it must be something else because of the size. About 1.5 inches. I still think that I have it correct. Since it is so small, it is not possible to use.

Possibly a knife rest. Size is about right.

I have seen examples of Wode grinders, but not sure what was used as a pestle.

When I was a kid my mom, who was from Holland, had a curio shelf, and on it was brass miniatures of everyday items of the past.

Example, tea pots, plates, bells, Dutch girl carring a yoke with two water pails, windmills, coffee grinder, etc.
