Managed to get a couple hours in last night! Weather has turned decidedly cool and cloudy 🤔 but still detecting wearing headphones is still the best date night!! 😆

Himself id this as a toy cannon… so will go with that, i also found this super cool lead hem weight, weighs 20g and is 3cm diameter… cant image getting around with those swinging round me ankles😆!!

Nice complete buckle, another lead weight, buttons, amazing detail on the back of one, then we have some strange item!! Not sure if part of farm machinery or a bomb 😳 xx I Also found a George 3 penny from 1806!!! xx

Cows out with us, super friendly and of course the lambs 😍 xx

That mystery item does look like a projectile of sorts. What is that creature with jeans and a sweatshirt on? Is that the infamous “himself?” He’s not trying to grab the bull by the horns is he? Lol!

Great finds! I like the toy canon. Love finding toys. Congratulations on date night hunting.

Ha!! Yes that is the lesser spotted himself…. A rare heavily corroded item, with no apparent use …. think it dates from the 1960’s …. although looks older 🤔 xx

Himself certainly did himself proud getting the awesome toy cannon that's for sure.
No size reference so not sure on how big it actually is really.

Sweet looking buckle 1650-1725
Somebody tagged those sheep. those gangs are everywhere. :laughing7:

They vary in size & date, yours looks to be late 18th C. They did fire with black powder & are thought to be a Gentlemen's table piece/after dinner party trick, so to speak. Although I'm sure some spoilt rich kids had some dangerous fun as well. Some were over loaded or blocked & blow-up, found them with exploded ends. Pretty lethal.

Beautiful pics as usual.
I've found several KG III h'pennies but they are all very worn. The English used them until they were unusable (or at least unreadable) and then shipped them to the colonies to be used! Yours is really nice.
I notice that the touchhole in the cannon is big. There probably would be as big a bang from that as from the muzzle!

Congrats on the range and age of recoveries!

Cannon!
Cannon. Cannon.
Cannon.
(I kinda like the cannon too!)

Hope that Hereford is staying out of the garden after himself got it out of the car boot at home.
You two are needing a lorry with all those critters you're finding...

I believe that was a later modification, they are normally a bit smaller & I can see some widening of the hole.

Himself is weary of my constant requests to fill his garden with various animals, including ducks, chickens, lambs, goats nd horses…. His answer is always No, but it doesn’t deter me 😂😂 xx
