This brass tip is about an inch long and appears to have been round but is squished as found. It looks like it is crimped at the large open end but the tip has a little rounded but flat extension at its tip. I don't think it is a cane tip.....no wear to the tip and the extension would be of no purpose. I thought maybe a bayonet scabbed tip or a parasol finial but have no idea. Thanks in advance for your insights.

The flat has a hole through it. Possibly for a tether/retainer. Chain maybe.

The crimp appears to be damage.

Could be a pen cap (I am not guessing it's size well) , a cigar case top. Needle case. Toothpick case. danged small match case. A bell .( No , not a bell...Unless there's a clanger , l.o.l..)

I don't know!

the flat little extension does not have a hole through it, really seems to have no purpose...... It is from a 1850-1880 site, if that helps

Ladies Chatelaines held varied things. Often sewing related. Including needle holders. Suspended by chains.

My initial guess was that of a tires valve stem cover. Which does not fit your sites era /context.

Here's a needle case that's kind of close.
I'm not saying it fits your era.

I know this piece... i just cannot remember to what it goes... i have seen it in other words.

Ring was attached to end of wood.

Note the indentation... this held it in place from pressure.

IMO of course.

I like that guess....I did find a decorative darning needle there a while back. I had posted here on tnet.
