Went diggin today and found a few nice targets. Got a 1887 Indian, a token good for 5 cents (EWD) on the front, a 1911 wheat and this dandy medal. I believe it's from the 69th "B" Batallion. If anyone has an idea as to the history of this piece I would like to hear about it. Thanks and I hope you enjoy the pics!

Closest I could find to the one you have. Yours is unique!

I can't find a similar medal online. I hope someone has already ran this one down.

I'm no expert, but the font on that medal looks old to me maybe even pre-1900's.

I wondered if it could be associated with these guys somehow but couldn't find anything like the medal face...
Welcome to the 69th Pa Website

I tend to agree with you. The shape is not real symmetrical. I would think that issue would have been eliminated by WWI

They must of been trying to grow those Indians since you've found so many planted in that yard

Several very nice finds! Have you done any research to determine if there was any local merchant in the past with the inititials that match the ones on your token?

Not yet. I plan on researching it after I get a solid idea on the medal. That is probably the best token I have ever found

That "medal" looks way older than 1900 to me , I'm thinking much more like Civil war - (I'm maybe one of the least knowledgeable people
on this forum when it comes to militaria ), but I guess I could go Spanish/American war period.
