Todays digs. Anyone have an idea on the medal?

Went diggin today and found a few nice targets. Got a 1887 Indian, a token good for 5 cents (EWD) on the front, a 1911 wheat and this dandy medal. I believe it's from the 69th "B" Batallion. If anyone has an idea as to the history of this piece I would like to hear about it. Thanks and I hope you enjoy the pics!

I can't find a similar medal online. I hope someone has already ran this one down.

I'm no expert, but the font on that medal looks old to me maybe even pre-1900's.

I wondered if it could be associated with these guys somehow but couldn't find anything like the medal face...

I tend to agree with you. The shape is not real symmetrical. I would think that issue would have been eliminated by WWI

Not yet. I plan on researching it after I get a solid idea on the medal. That is probably the best token I have ever found

I think you may be right on the artillery part - this badge looks very similar to yours:

It is from the 69th artillery division and looks really old

That "medal" looks way older than 1900 to me , I'm thinking much more like Civil war - (I'm maybe one of the least knowledgeable people
on this forum when it comes to militaria ), but I guess I could go Spanish/American war period.
