I don't see blacksmith-made iron here JR, I see early 20thc cast iron/steel that has pitted from exposure to the elements. :icon_scratch:

I agree, more likely steel and not hand made. Also, cast iron is never hand made and is quite a different thing than hand forged iron. It takes a lot of technology and equipment to cast iron, cannot be done in a blacksmith's shop or by hand. Things that are cast are cast in molds of various types, thereby negating the hand made nomenclature. Yes, you can hand cast lead, aluminum, silver, and gold for small projects but iron or steel are a different story. Hand cast is also not the same as hand forged or hand made.
