I suggest digging some of those many signals. You'll easily be able to tell if it's a lot of trash.

Steve, I don't have that particular machine, so can't help you. Unless I was looking at the machine, in which case I could see the control labels. Some machines automatically track, while others let you manually adjust, and so forth. Your best bet is to read the instructions. AND start with a cleaner area. Even if it means going way out into a clean cow pasture, away from all buildings and structures. Because if you start in a junky environment, then of course you'll be driven crazy trying to discern the symphany of signals. Start with easy spots (modern sandboxes, clean dry sand at the beach, modern yards of homes that are only 20 yrs. old, etc...). THEN progress to junky spots, as you learn what your machine is telling you.
