Just FYI, your detector will not work well at all in wet salt sand so stay above the high tide line, salt minerals have iron in them, your detector will think there is metal everywhere, only way to work around it is to turn your sensitivity way down, and unfortunately that turns down the depth it will get too.

Hey guys and gals. I recieved my metal detector back in June for my birthday. I never got out to the beach this year and was itching to try this out. I can't seem to find any interesting places in Wilson so I tried a small park near me. I'm hooked.
You are Hooked...! :icon_thumright:
Indeed, this is an addictive hobby - meaning getting so involved in finding sense to the stuff you dig up....!
Asking a What's This? in our forum, but we need good photos too...!
There may be a club near you...maybe you find them listed here. Sharing your finds is fun, and....learn from each other...!
Stick with it, and maybe get some permissions, if you're not shy, (like me....!) :laughing7:
Enjoy!

Welcome from upstate NY. Try your local library or historical society, and find an old town or county history. You'd be surprised how many great finds there are inland, at old houses and disappeared buildings. Any time spent in research will be well worth your while.
