I haven’t posted finds here since late august but rest assured I have been digging. I’m mainly posting on Instagram YouTube and Facebook now but I wanted to make a catch-up post here for everyone to see and enjoy.
I was able to dig two civil war plates in a new site that I more or less stumbled on. Right area to dig them, didn’t expect to find them. That’s all here in this video:
We also got some sweet surface silver, more civil war relics and buttons in return trips:
More recently Diggergirl and I checked out a new site and she skunked me by pulling a handful of silver:
But I went out to a colonial site with shangalang and he got a 210 year old military button and I got a stunning Capped Bust Silver:

A rare little clothing button with a huge story to tell: Lacroix and Cordeviolle, New Orleans clothiers and free persons of color!

Here’s the outstanding capped bust half dime I dug (my second Capped on the year):
and the early, c. 1808 US regiment of artillerists button shangalang dug:
The two plates I dug were extremely battered by the plow, and not much to look at, but I hope to find the rest of them in this field later on. Thanks for looking. Please enjoy all the new episodes on my YouTube channel, where I’m putting out one episode per week now.
