TWO Large Cents Found, one British and one US 100' from each other
Searching a grass field in Western Maryland yesterday, I first came across a U.S. Large Cent piece, dated 1807, in pretty good condition for being in the ground since who knows when. Some of the detail is not in the pic, lost it when re-sizing. Then about 30 minutes later on a hillside in the same field, no more than 100' away, I got another good signal. It was another Large Cent, but I could not see anything on it, until I got back to the house. I could easily see the letters GEORGIVS. I looked at the coin books, then the internet. I am pretty sure, its a Brisitsh 1/2. The name I seen was GEORGIVS, the coin should have had GEORGIVS III REX. The coin dates to around 1770. If anyone knows more please let me know..........The U.S. Cent was very clear, the 1/100 is still very clear on the back, with minimal wear, the British coin was very worn as you can see in the pic. Good day overall...........
