Because of the beautiful stormy weather here in the Pacific Northwest I can't go metel decteing today. This is the first find it found with the garrett at pro it was in my front yard and I posted this before a while ago and some people said it was a water meter cap I am sure it's not because how thin it is and I don't think it's steel like a water meter covers is and it's very thin and I am very curious on what other possible item it might be. 20160618_135421.webp20160618_135436.webp20160618_135429.webp

Yep its a piece of cap. If you add that to all the pieces of cap i have found over the years, you would have a big pile of cap!

It looks like die cast / pot metal to me. I'm not sure what a water meter cap is, but if they mean the hinged lid you open to read your usage, then it's certainly not that. All the old water meters I've ever seen had a brass lid and some newer ones now use plastic.

40-years of listening to machines go beep, zip, bong, wheeeiiiizzzz, and then digging the metal up. Those caps are massed produced at several foundries around the country for municipalities and private contractors. They are used to cover water and electric junctions and boxes.

What do you think it is? The top to an old drum clip for a Tommy Gun? :occasion14:
