Unusual Horseshoe

Normally don’t post these, but this one was in excellent shape, and I’m curious about any info regarding date and purpose. It was over a foot deep, found in an area I’ve found civil war stuff before

Horse shoes haven't changed a lot over the years....best to average a date with the finds that were nearby that can be dated. Looks like a mule shoe .

Front shoe for a mule, with a toe clip. It’s a touch wider than normal, the farrier might of made it a touch wider to help it in wetter ground.
