Unusual tree

This tree has been through a lot. Severe wind damage when it was a larger sapling. Still very much alive and growing. I see it nearly every day. I guess the lesson is, no matter what hand you’re dealt, never give up. I Finally thought to capture it on my phone. Sort of a misty morning.

Not too many grow like that.... Clear the brush and there is a perfect ridge pole for a lean to....

This was hit by a 100+ mph shear wind when it was young. Some other trees, in the same acreage are twisted and curved from that storm. I believe it was 23 years ago.

Were you effected by that strange phenomenon known as the Derechos wind, that blew across Iowa back in August of 2020 ? My uncle in Iowa was telling me about it after it hit the state.

No. It was north of us. We got strong winds that day, but not the severe damage. 60 miles further north they lost a huge amount of trees.

sometimes a dead tree falls and traps a sapling like that, cool pic.
