Gonna be visiting the Houston area next month, March 2016. Thought I might do a little beach detecting at Galveston Island. Can anyone tell me if theres better spots to detect along that beach, I would appreciate it. Also theres alot of jetties along that beach, does that play along with how objects travel along the coast with the tides?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan,

Yes the jetties affect our wave action. The best spots on Galveston Island are Stewart Beach (family beach), East Beach (Alcohol allowed), 61st St beach (surfer hangout) , Pleasure Pier, and in front of the San Luis and Galvez hotels. All areas are OK to detect except a small section of beach at Galveston Island State Park. These areas get hit hard, but tidal changes give up new goodies. If you are here a day when the wind is out of the north, you might get lucky and hit a good low tide where the tide is way out offering a lot more beach exposed.

We are 75 miles north of Galveston if you need any equipment.
