Hi Everyone....I'm usually an arrowhead hunter, but I'm trying to make the venture into relic detecting......I live in a Civil War prone area of NW AR, and was wondering if the Tesoro Vasquero or De Leon would be the better detector for relic hunting? I currently own a Garrett Ace 250, but am planning on giving this to my wife so she can detect with me. Any imput would be appreciated. thx. gg

Go for the Vaquero.
It has a manual ground balance so you can use it in more places.

I'm a Vaquero fan as it has worked well for me.

I appreciate the advice everyone......just one more thing---so you would also prefer the Vaquero over the Tejon?

Heck NO....The Tejon is by far the better detector, hence the added features.

As a relic hunter, I'd take the Tejon over the Vaquero.

The Vaquero is an all purpose detector.

Tesoro made the Tejon specifically for relic hunting.

But it will work nicely for coins also hopefully?

The Tejon with its two different disc modes is perfect for coins too. EM fields bother you, just change frequencies.

Different detectors, different purposes. There is no one all purpose detector.

Sure, the Tejon will do an adequate job coin hunting, but at its much higher frequency, it may not hit dimes and quarters as deeply as nickels and copper pennies like the Vaquero will.

But the Vaquero will be outperformed by the Tejon when relic hunting.

If your real passion is for relic hunting with occassional coin hunting, then the Tejon will be your best bet, IMHO.

I was looking at the Vaquero or Tejon also but i am just a coin & jewelry hunter & Cache hunter And of course like every one i do love gold..................... I don't hunt relic's .................. But i sure do like that two disc modes on the Tejon ............. I like to hunt but i hunt only to find and sell ............ I don't collect or save any thing i find ................. It does me no good on a shelf at home or in a display case............ But it sure looks good in my bank account......
