Vintage Fisher M-Scope questions

I was wondering if the original handle was wood or metal ? Can you still get batteries for them ? I have the original ''dry cells'' (rayovac BA-51) 67 1/2 volt . Thanks ,

Fisher 1948 vintage 2-box

Wood--- two handles

Tubes are still available but keep the voltage down

Batteries are special order. short life, and expensive

Consider it a wall hanger

Very heavy about 30 pounds as remember

As of about a year ago, you could get the 67.5v and the big 9v batteries from Battery's Plus. Didn't last long & expensive! Another lead for the batteries would be to check some of the antique radio restorers sites. Also a good source for original knobs etc. If you want to pretty it up.

Why would you want to even think about spending $50 per battery for two? I recommend getting a Gemini I or II, and change the old Eveready 1-276 battery connector out for a regular 9v connector and get a nine volt case that holds six AA Batteries.

I know Dollar short and Years Late. You don't need the 67V batteries. You can replace them with a Bucking Circuit. Aka Voltage Converter.
