Found this War of 1812 button yesterday and noticed some flaking that exposed some silver wash...so decided to give it a shot at cleaning...glad I did...will look much better in the diaplay box...

Sweet button! I imagine that would be an officers button, as enlistedmen would likely be pewter. What does the shank look like? Any backmark?
