There have been many who have claimed to have "cracked" either one or both of the remaining codes, and interestingly, all the solutions are not the same.
Did this unnamed someone who cracked the code have a limerick or epitaph along with the Beal spelling?

there is only two on this site that have made the claim. one seems to be correct and one seems to be wrong. beal's name spelled as beale in the pamphlet and spelled as beal in the ciphers. this would indicate the person who was the author was not the person who produced the ciphers.

Solomon Kullback, a professional who studies syntax for the Us Signal Intelligence Service, that is the study of construction of sentences and the arrangements of words and grammar usage in sentences, after studying the narrative text and the alleged "Beale letters", concluded," The writers of the two texts were the same person and the whole affair was a hoax".

With that stated, I do not believe the Beale Papers were written as a hoax, but as a dime novel with those ciphers added as play along parlor entertainment., and it is amazing that after 130 years people are still playing along.

As the codebreaker for the US Coast Guard's Division of Intelligence, Elizabeth Smith Freidman remarked after studying the Beale story and analyzing the ciphers at the request of the Harts," was printed for the express purpose of selling copies of it for profit, and the ciphers should be considered in the same light as the myriad 'treasure maps' which are sold in the southern states purporting to come down from pirate days".

With so many professionals in several different fields stating that the Beale Papers are either a dime novel written for profit or as a hoax, and the total lack of even the slightest reference outside collaboration that can confirm the Beale Party "perilous adventure", how can anyone expect to believe that a claim of a solved cipher is correct, when there have been many similar claims over the last 130 years after the job print pamphlet's publication?

OK you have proved with professionals that the story is a hoax now go find something else to prove. You have done proved this so much it is way over 100 proof in 50 cases.

Intel labels do not obscure incorrectness. I have family in the intel field. They will certainly convey this as well. Many will seek or find only what they want to.

The same can be said of those "finding" evidence to support a pet theory that has nothing or no connection to do with the subject.

i think all those people were born more than 100 years ago in the 1800's. one of the people that cracked it said something about them in a video i had seen the other day. if they could not crack the ciphers they must be a fake. we have more tech today with all the computers. there was that guy with the computer in the 60's that worked with the ciphers more than 50 years ago. wow yhat a long time ago, but now we have two people that have said they have cracked it in the last 5 years.

....The internet has been sifted through relentlessly....:BangHead: now it is a dead end...:BangHead: Need access to personal libraries, descendant records/papers of all those involved...collections that will never have a modem connected to.......
ACTUALLY, if yer a RESEARCHER (Ph.D.), you could PROBABLY get "access"... OR! An author like Peter Viemeister, who was also PREZ of the Bedford City/County Historical Society; HE had access to family stuff that we can ONLY "dream about". Last book/novel (FACTION) was CONFEDERATE TREASURE COVERUP: Duty, Honor, & Deceit. CONFEDERATE WAR CSA Treasury (WESTERN VIRGINIA portion for Lynchburg, Lexington, Va. AND! VMI) as the "Beale Treasure". Book is "hard to find", now... heh!

FURTHER... PV alluded to the CONFEDERATE WAR "theory" in his book, THE BEALE TREASURE: NEW History of a MYSTERY; Chapt. 22, pg. 168-172. "The few men who knew about the stash would keep it SECRET..."; later to be discovered/recovered/utilized for Lynchburg/Lexington, Va. AND! Virginia Military Institute (aka VMI). Yank "Black Dave" Hunter previously destroyed Lexington, Va. & VMI, after wreaking havoc in the GREAT VALLEY of Virginia (aka Shenandoah Valley). Gen. R.E. Lee had advised CSA Prez J. Davis to move "Richmond Stores" to Lynchburg, Va. & points WEST, as Richmond, Va. was "falling"... (Yanks were advancing up from Petersburg, Va.); so...

i see this whole thing is a confederate treasure? i'm not sure about peter viemeister fiction helps the task at hand. if we stick to the 1822 letters from beal and the 3 codes i think it is possible to use only this as a starting point for research. fictional books are not much help and just seem to get people confused like most of the people looking at these papers. you should see all the interesting sites out there about this subject. most just fantasy.

It truly is, I tried to purchase a book from Amazon it was not there the next morning there was one at a very cheap price. It pays to check the Internet over and over. It changes like the weather.
