Here are some of the Watch Winders I've found. I've got more, but they are mostly the common oval loop type. But I have seen a lot of really cool ones posted over the years, so post 'em if ya got 'em!

The first one of these I ever dug as a young boy I tossed because I didn’t know what it was. In Kentucky and Indiana it seemed like the only style ever dug was the the simple, brass loop variety. Down here in Louisiana the styles and shapes are pretty much infinite.

Here are some common single loop ones to start, although the second one with the rectangular loop is not as commonly seen.

Is the bottom center one in the last pic gold?
I can't tell for sure, but it doesn't have a hallmark & I'm guessing its very thickly plated to give it strength.
Most are obviously 18th and 19th C, but how early would you say your oldest is?
Correct, don't have any older than 18th C from what I can tell.

Interesting decoration on that one. It's design elements are Greek/Roman:
(Loads of symbolism just on one side!)
A central Caduceus flanked by 2 mirrored Cornucopia surrounded by a Roman Laurel Wreath!
I agree! Wish it was complete but we take what we can get!

I finally have dug up my collection there might be a few more, but this is the bulk of them.
One gold winder, not complete sadly.

That’s quite a collection! I love how much variety there is in these tiny items. Now that I know that they made these out of gold—I want a gold one!

Thanks Buck
I had totally forgotten about the gold one till I saw it, or actually I had found so many over the years.
Just starting to sort the finds out-kind of "Like A Kid in a Candy Store"
Early Xmas present to myself-tiring chore.:laughing7:

I completely understand! I’m working on a book about items recovered in Louisiana, and taking all the items out of their cases and placing them back in is so much work.
