Hello, found this about 6 inches down this past weekend. Thought I found my first silver dollar. It appears to be the back to a watch. I looked it over and cant seem to find a makers mark. Any help in identifying it and its age would be appreciated. There seems to be something on the back of the watch. I think its a "C" and a "F". What do those mean? Thanks again and happy hunting.

It is a watch, or what is left of it. Under what is called dollar watch category. I dont recognize the make.
The curved slot with the F and most likely, S is to adjust the hairspring for faster and slower. Kept it in time.

Could be a gauge housing since it has holes in the back. If it is from an old watch, it is missing the back cover plate. The curved slot does look like it has adjustment marks and an F for faster.
