Is this a weapon part? The round part is moveable when you move the rod behind it. Found near a civil war camp in northern Delaware. It is just under 1.75 inches in length. Thanks for looking. It says “45” and “US” on ig etc.

Might be a foot opperated High beam foot switch. Maybe some type of Solonoid . One thing for sure it is not civil war weaponry

I'm going to agree it is part of a starter switch, had a 1950 dodge truck that had foot starter looked very similar if memory serves me correctly.
