I got out Saturday and Sunday and did quite well. The draped bust is my nicest one so far its a 1807/6 its hard to see in the picture. I am scared to clean it anymore because the patina will flake off and it will lose its detail. I didn't know what the shoulder scale was at first and when I got home I realized what it was. I need to go back and see if I can find more of it. I like the rosette I have I the picture with the lock. I found it near the shoulder scale. The oakite silver cleaning plate is kind of nice maybe I can use it sometime. 1554849867927808159162.jpg 1554849909087711191122.jpg . I found a plain dandy button and a A Benedict Waterbury button with a plain front. I also found a 42 merc dime and my first shed of the year. I have three buck skulls that I need to get from the woods yet. I sell the sheds and skulls on eBay. I live in a city and there isn't to many areas with a lot of woods. So I find a lot of sheds in woods out here. HH every one!!!

Looks like a good hunt I would love to hunt an area as old as that you never know what you will find. That Draped Bust is freakin sweet my town was founded in 1817 so Im not seeing one of those in my future but Im still hoping one shows up lol Good post and finds Tommy

Keep searching there could be one in your town. The first few I found were slick from years of circulation. So you never know!

Very good detail you can see all the hairs in her head. The back isn't as nice.

A very nice hunt John. The Draped Bust is great. I wouldn't do much more to it. Looks great as is. Congrats!

There are a few good ways to safely clean your coins, the draped is a very nice find, the picture is not very clear, but I can still tell it has a lot of detail, it should clesnup pretty sweet. Nice artifacts too. Congrats! & HH

Congrats John nice haul!

The Oakite Corp made some pretty caustic cleaning chemicals. They made a product for cleaning engine blocks that was used in a large heated tank. They were eventually outlawed for their effects on the waste water from rinsing the stuff off the parts. Commonly used in auto machine shops.

Congrats on some really nice finds and especially on the rescue of the 1807/6 Draped Bust Large Cent! You need to bathe the LC in Acetone to arrest the verdigris, rinse, pat dry, then put the coin in a mineral oil or virgin olive oil soak for quite some time to not only stabilize and protect the coin's metal and details but to loosen the corrosion as well.
