My buddie Mike and I went to look yesterday for this old homestead that was located on an 1876 Atlas of Columbia & Montour Counties. After about an hour Mike found it. We concentrated on detecting the area around the old cellar hole, and this is what I dug up after about 3 hours of detecting. Boy do I like finding old cellar holes.............

First came a flat button, then another, and then another. All 3 located just outside the cellar hole about 2 feet apart from each other.. The one button has a backmark of R & W Robinson Extra Rich. Now my adrenaline is revving up................OK there has to be coins somewhere, after about an hour, about 5 yards across, here she is.............An 1819 Matron Head Large Cent. Going back a hopefully get what I missed. Thanks for looking.

Looks like you found a sweet spot!

R & W Robinson button is from about 1840.

The soil was kind to those relics. Can't wait to see what comes out of the hole.

Finds are in great shape. Don't you love discovering a (hopefully) untouched cellar hole after some good research??

Nice finds. Looks like the R & W Robinson flower button is a two piece. Here is an interesting hard times token from 1836 where R & W Robinson received an award for the "Best Military, Naval, Sporting, and Plain Flat Buttons" for the American Institute in New York
