if they are 3 or 4 inches wide they could be part of bureau drawers hardware .

They were both found in central,va approx 8 miles apart. The bigger one is 5" X 2" at the longest/widest points and nothing else was found in that area. The smaller one is 4" X 1 1/2" and was found in the same area as some civil war buttons were found.
