I may get booted, I don't have a track record here, but I'm going to state my opinion which is not directed towards the OP, "per se". As a moderator and group expert on a major U.S. coin and currency forum (I love numismatics and all coins. I dearly love metal detecting as well. I've been doing both well over half my life and I ain't young) I felt compelled to voice my thoughts: It is a true disservice (and a waste of other member's 'resources') when someone makes a post such as this. It was obvious in the opening pics, and not to mention the commentary. I'm not sure why people do this kind of stuff. I have seen it many, many, many times before, sadly so. I suppose those types of people are looking for attention.

Well I just wasted 20 minutes reading 5 pages, that I will never feel justified in reading...

:evil5: Written on this piece of paper is my assessment of the sample shown.

Can someone please tell me what it says?????
Don’t worry you can “UN-Watch” this thread. There is a button for that.

I assure you I'm not one of those so called gold trolls. I don't have time for all that. I'm here because I have the real deal. I know what it is. I've tested it myself along with 4 professionals so far. The last two pics show a 22kt nitric acid test. New bottle and results
The nitric acid test is to test the purity of a manufactured gold piece. It does not test for gold itself only the relative purity of a known gold piece.

You want to get rich? Try testing a piece of glass with your nitric acid. See how it doesn't react? It must be gold by your test standards. Now test all the glass you can find. Go to the thrift store and buy it by the pound. Test it all. SEE you are RICH! All that stuff you thought was just glass is really 24K pure gold!

What you have is not gold. With better pictures and some valid testing such as hardness and specific gravity (as suggested by several on this thread) we could probably tell you what you have. At this point there is only one thing we do know - your pictures do not show gold and you don't seem willing to provide any real information.

If you really want to know what your item is back up a little and assume for a moment that it isn't gold. Do the right tests and take some in focus pictures. Who knows you might actually have something interesting. There was some reason it was kept by the original owner, I would think you would want to know why they kept it, I know I would.

Break off a small chunk, place it on a steel surface and tap it with a hammer
If it shatters, it's pyrite
If it squishes like a lead sinker, it's gold

24k doesn't occur in nature, Maybe 20 or 22k but 24k requires refining.

He's probably gone but,,,nope thats not gold.

First thing to remember pretty much everyone here has seen "pure gold"

Gold bars. hard as hell in a lump really..considering its "softness"

Stuff ain't crumbling off like a nice block of Lebanese Hash.

At most you can shave it off.

There are gold "crystals" sure rare to see octahedrons ... but,, even those don't mean purity.

I have been lucky enough to dig some very naturally pure gold it's at most 95% .But ,man some sure looks finer than that. Obviosly I dont test every single piece. But, I'm near mines that were known for super high grade gold.

It can be pretty delicate and "crumble" if its already spongey and "crumbly"

Look close at the foil piece. at one point it would had been a lattice of gold. it is eluvial. over time it got folded up. If you look close you can see through it. Because of a bunch of holes.Gold is relatively strong.

The other one was non visable in a lump of quarts when I detected it. I etched and picked and left it embedded in the host.. percipitated in the Quartz vein when it cooled into a natural gold coin.
Very bright yellow gold.

Ah it’s not that difficult to prompt discussion here is it? It WAS getting kind of quiet.

Days ago? I posted this last night. Anyhow specific gravity? Who can test that? I don't claim to be an expert. I'm here trying to figure this out. Not be discredited. I have tested as much as I can at the current moment. Trying to find where to send it to be tested so I can give all these details you ask for. Who can test a super soft crystalline gold for us all to know?
