What is about the max length for a total shaft length?

I have several carbon fiber and fiberglass tubings 3/4” ID about 54” Long. About 6” longer than an Anderson upper shaft with a lower shaft out 12”. About 18” inches or so longer than the Anderson carbon fiber upper shaft. I was wondering if I made one with the lower rod in one of these shafts with handle and arm cuff, would it work? I know in the water it might be slower and hard to swing, but you could have a 10’ wide swath. Anyone done this? Maybe just for the wet sand?

Mine...total length is 65”. I put my pods 4” behind the cuff.

It's more of a matter of what your arm will stand. That detector is going to get mighty nose heavy with a real long shaft, especially with a big coil. You'd also have to watch your swing speed. Too quick a sweep and you'll miss targets. I prefer large coils at the beach and fields, so, I don't run my shaft at max length to same on my arm. In my case, that's better for me instead of extending it out and using a smaller coil. I figure I'm getting about the same ground coverage that way using the same swing speed.
