I found this in a dig tonight, got this weird little bike. Signal was trash but I dig EVERYTHING...lol. When I was filling the hole back in I saw this coin, it is a penny but is it not metal? PP and MD do not see it. Is this something special?
Just so you know, it is very light. Not aluminum though.

Yes, magnet grabs it. Is it a good coin to keep for the grandkids?
Sure. It's always good to keep old coins for the grand kids & future generations.
We never know what the future holds, but coin collecting should continue to be a thing IMO. The 1943 steel penny is not rare, but it certainly is different. I saved all I could find in loose change when I was a kid because I thought they were cool. I still have over 100 of them & every time I look at them in my hand, they still bring a funny feeling of nostalgia & "oddness". Your grand kids might also appreciate having something different that their friends never heard of or ever seen before.
CHEERS ! & congrats on your "cool" find.

Take a look around TreasureNet and see how many people have found one. You are one of the few. Nice find to pass on. As they say, "They don't make 'em like that anymore"
