It's very heavy for the size, about 5-6 inches long and may 1.5 inches wide. It appears to have rows and maybe ridges.

I was thinking like a tractor pedal....but seems super heavy for that. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1488674645.833996.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1488674660.183497.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1488674677.097790.jpg

Looks like it was part of a step the bumps would be for traction

Judging by the ridges I would say step too. The ridges help give traction getting into or onto something.

I've changed my mind.

After I realized it was sitting on a paper plate, it would be too small to be a step.

It now looks more like bench vice jaw.

Are there two holes in it by chance?

I know i've seen that before but I can't find a good picture but it reminds me ( as others have said) of pedal from a tractor . the ridges are for traction so your foot doesn't slip off while braking or shifting gears. What does the back look like?

It appears flat. The entire piece is very precise. It looks like the ends and sides are slightly beveled.

There also don't seem to be any holes or any place where it might have been attached to something.

I've added some daylight photos.

We are headed home. I will weigh it when we get there. It's pretty heavy.
