Can someone help me to identify what this is? I found it metal detecting an old house place. I'm sorry I forgot to take a picture of the back but at each end there is a hole like it hung on something. Thank you for any information that you can share with me!

What are the dimensions? Any idea what it's made out of? Any markings on the back? Looks sort of cast-iron stove-ish.

I will get a picture of the back this evening and post it. It feels kind of like cast iron but not for sure. I found it at an old pre-1960's house place that I had metal detected before. The piece was partly out of the ground where wild hogs had rooted it up.

There had to be s Maker's Mark, any other initials on the back or a c with a circle around it? It could be a door knocker?

I'm thinking trivet.

Agree. Hot trivet.

Looks like brass. The intertwined initials styling is late Victorian. 1880's give or take a decade.

But without knowing the size and seeing the back it is impossible to say for sure.

I am sorry for the late reply...the item I found definitely looks like the clock pendulum! I tried to post a picture of the back of it but it would never upload. Thank you to everyone that helped me ID the item!
