✅ SOLVED What is this?

I recovered this from one of my yard hunts this year. It’s approximately 4-inches and has a pond design etched on the one part (you may have to zoom) . Any ideas what it is? I’m still working on familiarizing myself with the different metals. I’m guessing this is either brass or copper. I’d be grateful for any insight. 😊

Antique march holder (Gilt brass, elaborately detailed Chinoiserie pair of slippers, pond life and lilly pads, turtles, snakes, fish and cattails).

Not intended to be worn... just styled as slippers for decorative purposes.

Most usually, these were hung on the fireplace. When there are two compartments, one usually held friction matches to light the fire and the other held 'spills' (don't know if that's what you call them in America)... thin strips of wood that you could use to catch a flame from the fire to light your pipe, transfer to a candle or whatever without wasting another match.
