Swinging my CZ earlier with the 15 inch coil attached, I got a faint signal.
I don't know if you have ever run a Los Banos NASA Tom tuned CZ-3D before, but if you haven't, you should!
I can dig to China if I want to.
A can sized target, in good soil, three feet plus.
So getting a faint signal got me excited as the sound was iffy.
I like iffy.
Iffy is good.
Three inches under the ground, this is in the way.

About 85lbs of big ol rock in my way.
What are the odds that the target is under the rock ?
This area has never been plowed as farmland before.
I'm guessing it isn't coincidental.
After the rock was removed, the signal is stronger but still deep.
I'll let you know tomorrow what is down there.
The rock did a number on my Arthritis!

Mike.

When I got my first detector in the early 80’s, I got a nice signal in my back yard, I kept digging, it kept getting bigger and I kept digging. Had to be treasure I thought. This went on until I found my target - a 4 x 8 piece of sheet metal that had to be disposed of and a good piece of lawn to be reseeded.

Once another lifetime ago, I was digging on a battlefield. I got a decent signal, it sounded like a plow share, of which I had already found numerous on this farm, about 30" down was a cannonball. It was so deep I had a hard time getting it out.

85 pound rocks are not much of an issue. Dig out on the low side of it then lever it out of the way.
