Three times out with new AT Pro and found my first two sterling silver rings! I want a gold one! What numerical range will I find gold rings in? Also hunting in pro none mode and sometimes get a high tone when sweeping one way but not coming back. Try to pinpoint and get no audio? How do I locate single tone targets?

I believe those single tone targets you are referring to are not targets per say but something the machine is discriminating out, like a low iron signal. If you believe there is a target there switch to ZERO Mode and that will allow discriminated items to be heard.

gold rings will ring in from low 40s up to high 60s from the tests I have done. One way signals could be a coin on edge or junk you have to dig it to find out. If it won't pinpoint try removing some dirt and swing again and pinpoint. The places I hunt are old home sites and fields where olds house have sat. I haven't found any gold rings yet just tested the ones I have or my wife's. I've found silver rings and they rang up from 70's to low 80's. Good luck.

My 14K white gold wedding band reads 48. Distinct clear sound, from any sweep direction; AT picks it out of trashy bits.

Very good thread with awesome information.

Thank you

I found a silver ring yesterday coming in at 81. I'm thinking the gold stuff hovers around 53 to 56. You can google AT Pro VMI numbers and there is a chart you can download that is helpful.

I've dug several gold rings in the 47/49 range, a lot of them fall from 47-65. Most silver falls from 65-95. Keep at and the gold will come.

That is an eye opener Wayne. I need to pay closer attention to the 47-49 range. I disregard that range a lot on the beach because of all of the foil/ gum wrappers. Thanks for the heads up.

Problem is pull tabs and lots of other trash rings in at the same as the gold & silver numbers. Any help to offer on avoiding the trash targets?

If you want gold you have to dig tabs. I have seen multiple gold rings at 52/53, typically a nickel or pull tab signal. Small gold can range from 40-60. Size of the ring, thickness of the band and karat weight affects where it will fall.

I dig the pull tab and foil until I get tired, then I cherry pick!
