Schoharie County, NY... less that 60 miles from you. It is a site-specific kind of item, unless you just luck out and find random coin in a field or something. Research old maps of your area and read histories of where folks were hanging out from the mid-1800's and before. Good Luck!

I have found 3 in Virginia.

Broome county, Chenango county and Delaware county N.Y.

New York, north of the Tappan Zee bridge, Maryland at a colonial site, Brandywine, PA a very very long time ago, north of Charleston, SC also in another lifetime and on the Delaware beach.

I am grateful to have found six (5 halfs, 1 full) across four sites in three contiguous rural towns in Vermont, within a 10 mile radius, from March-October last year. All but one from areas that were used in the 1785-1820s range, abandoned with the first mass exodus from this area when the canals opened up the West. Here's to hoping last year wasn't a fluke!

Good luck finding yours!

Here's mine, pretty worn.

I have found close to 30 coppers but still only one silver, I guess people never lost these.

Hi, 28 years detecting, and never found Spanish Silver.... Trying to figure out where everyone is finding them ... LOL HH

Please post states you found Spanish Silver in.... thanks

Your not the only one. I have been detecting 45yrs. and have yet to find one.

One half real in northern Virginia.

I'm finding my first one this summer in central NY.

I have found many reales, all on Long Island NY. All half reales. Here's the trick, dig everything, especially zinc penny hits. Much of what's left are half reales and they are mostly worn thin. If you're just digging perfect dime signals then good luck finding one.

I've found 2 thus far. 1 in the woods in Ashland, VA, 1 in a public park in central VA.

I have 100 -ish, all from CA .

I've had the pleasure of finding 30+ Spanish silvers of all denominations, only one 8 & 4 the rest were 2, 1 and 1/2. All found in RI, MA, CT and NH.

I've never found one but my 15 year old son has, an 1814 1/2 reale lower MI original cabin site.
