The family and I just got home from Maine. A beautiful place with tons of glaciated stone. quarts filled granite and altered schist beaches.

I grabbed a couple stones that interested me but now I’m wavering. Do I enjoy them tossed in with my other collection of rocks from afar. Or turn them to dust to satisfy my curiosity if they are harboring anything at all.

Thoughts?

I was sure not to collect anything from the National park. Just if anyones wandering.

If you don’t crush them you’ll never know. And it’ll be stones sitting around. My opinion!

Get them cut first. Then let the sledge and pan satisfy the curiosity.

Quartz is the most common mineral on earth and gold is one of the rarest elements. For me.....if no visible gold then it's just a rock.

Plan another trip back and use these ones as sacrificial stones and any from here on can be specimens on the shelf if these show no promise.
