Hello all,

I am from Massachusetts but the company I work for is located in Austin.

My boss who lives in Austin just purchased an ACE 350 for his young son Cooper and they are excited to use it but they don't really have a good idea where to go. My boss tells me that all of the schools in his area are only maybe 10 years old and they are interested in finding some older coins.

Can anyone recommend any general or specific areas near Austin that they can try with the hopes of finding something a little older?

Thank you all in advance and I will pass along any advice received here.

HH all!

Greg

Hi Greg..some folks are a bit squeamish about sharing their
hunting spots. My best suggestion would be to check out the
area on Google Maps. You'll be able to tell if a school or park
is old by the images.

I live in the far NW, but used to rep a company in Cedar Park,
just down the road from Austin. Every year we'd all spend a
few days there to catch up on the latest technical product details.

It can get bloody hot there in Austin, so plan for heat..:occasion14:

Thanks Dizzy, I appreciate your response......yeah, I wasn't asking for specific honey holes but just maybe some info I could pass along like, for example, a lake with a park around it or "the old race track on Route 1" , stuff like that …..was just hoping to tell my boss somewhere to try even if it has been pounded to death......All I know about Austin is 6th Street so I'm no help there, lol....

Again, really appreciate the time you took to respond, happy hunting!

Half the fun is in the research. Look for rodeo grounds, old picnic spots etc.

greg, Austin is difficult because there are restrictions against detecting in parks. My suggestion would be for him to get in touch with the Austin Metal Detecting Club for more information.
