So when being new to identifying found objects what's good practice, pointers, how-to's? I found this item a few weeks ago and have no clue where to begin on cleaning? Cutting in half? Melting? Smashing did nothing,lol

Any help in direction will be greatly appreciated 🤘

Non-magnetic
13.99grams (feels very heavy for size to me) will work on specific gravity(2.332)
Solid 85 tone on the trusty Ace 250
My 1st attempt on a streak test was a shiny silver color on the Jon lid.

Well I choose "cut"
Tossed that piece in my pocket this morn so while I was out feeding id swing in the shop and cut this bad boy in half.
I'ma have to argee aluminum 👍🤘💪

I'd completely forgotten - one of my first posts from three years ago and it looked a LOT like yours! The consensus on mine was melted aluminum as well. I reemember not wanting to believe it because I was SURE i'd found something worth millions ;)

I knew it wasn't a worth millions find but I still find it cool as hell. May turn the 2 pieces into jewelry, 1 pendant and 1 charm 😍 my new jewelry line will be "White Trash Jewelers" .........Watch out Zales.......a new rebel in town😂🤣😂🤣😂
