Wilkes-barre project upcoing

Great, the Hotel Sterling is falling to pieces downtown. Because of this they have 2 streets blocked off so no one gets hit with falling debris. But I believe we need new sidewalks downtown so we can block them off when the rest of the city falls down.

Can't say i've seen this project started yet, but i'll definitely poke around when i see it.

Yeah, unfortunately, most urban demolition sites (even mundane sidewalk tearout projects), get the "obligatory" fence around it. Or ribbon and cones, etc.. I remember when I first got into detecting in the late '70s, that there was no such things. I mean, sure, perhaps a few orange cones and ribbons you just "stepped over". Heck, when they tore out the downtown sidewalks in my town in 1980, we just waltzed right in WHILE they were working! No one cared back in those days. In fact, they were intrigued and would get off their tractors to come up and see what we were finding.

Nowadays you have to wait till after 5pm, and ...... uh .... be a little more "discreet". I think it had to do with the age of litigical cr*p going on. Or perhaps const. equipment theft, etc... So unfortunately, unless you know someone who's on the demolition crew .... you gotta hit those sites at night nowadays.

I think you missed my mark. Downtown, 2 blocks are already blocked off because a very historic building in the area is falling apart and no one has the money to buy it or fix it.so they set up concrete barriers closing off all the sidewalk and most of the road so no one gets hurt. i just wonder if they are gonna fix the sidewalk everywhere but there.

i wish there were some sidewalk tear outs goin on around my neighborhood........as far as permission from the construction workers goes, you'd be surprised how far a case of beer will get ya
