WW1 Military Coat Button Found At The Beach

I was really surprised to find this button on the cliff wall at the beach in San Simeon. It was sticking out of the bottom of the cliff near the sand. The small detailed silver heart was found nearby. The Silver rings, pocket knife and square cut nail were found in the wet low tide. All the silver pieces seem to be old style. I'm very curious to know more about the hand forged nail? From a ship possibly? I just don't find this stuff at the beachs were I normally hunt. Sharing a few pictures...Rich
