Better Late Than Never--CaneField Bandits 2016 Annual Finds!
Hello All,
It was a great year for us in 2016, the year that saw us dig our 70th Spanish Silver coin and our 72nd Seated Coin in the past 5 years. While I dug some nice finds, it was my buddy Shangalang that made the best recoveries--including a Banner find with his Napoleonic-Era French Briquette Infantry Sword!
At any rate, here are a few of the photos of individual finds from the field, followed by the onslaught of display cases that everyone is expecting
Here's the star find of the year--Shangulang's early 1800s sword hilt!
And my star find of the year was my first ever bit boss--and she's a beauty!
Here are two of the best finds dug--a stunning 1782 half real, and a West Point Cadet button dug by Shangalang:
I was lucky to get THREE Barber Quarters in one year. Crazy. Three years ago I had never dug one, and now I have dug a total of SEVEN of them.
First off, here is DiggerGirl's display (my wife). She went out with us only two or three times, but ended up finding quite a bit--including some fine spanish silver and seated coins:
She also managed to get a breechblock from an old black powder shotgun and some nice Schenkl Shell fragments. I got a lock plate from a musket:
Here are some of my display cases. Lots of quantity, at least!
I also got my first intact BRASS stirrup
And here are Shangalang's amazing finds. First the military finds (sword hilt and a piece of the knuckle bow, military buttons, nipple protector chain and bullets galore).
Lots of Marbles eyeballed!
And KILLER coin finds, including Shageolang's BEST Capped Bust ever!
Oh, and I almost forgot that he dug a prized find with this mummified turtle
Here is the signature line from 2016, showing all the goodies we managed to get our coils over:

I've decided that 2017 is gonna be my year--although Shanguloid has already found a Find of the Year with his 1700s French Marine Artillery button, dug this month!
There's nothing better than digging, except when you've got a digging buddy that not only finds the best stuff but also looks like this
Stay tuned, we gonna tear up the Cane Fields in 2017--and no matter what, we gonna FIND something!
Cheers,
The CaneField Bandits

How come the wife doesn't detect so much anymore, got her chained to the kitchen?
She works four jobs while I dig.
I'm trying to get her out more, but when she's free (school teacher) is the summer--and the summers here are brutally hot, so she doesn't really like to dig when it's that bad.

Great results for the Bandits 2016! Congrats to you both and many more finds this year. I enjoy reading your posts so hopefully a lot of cool stuff gets under your coil!
