I Finally Found the Time

I finally found the time to post my BEST of 2016 finds. The year of the Big Coins. 2015 was the year of the Indian Heads.

This was a year of many firsts, I dug my first Morgan, Barber half, Walking Liberty, Standing Liberty, 1/2 Real (which put me in the 1700's club), Toasted Colonial Copper (not shown), Chinese coin, Crotal Bell, Gold class ring and steel penny.

My silver coin goal was 50, but I only dug 48, but if you add the 17 I attracted, my haul for the season was 65.

I am not a true coin collector, but many know I have a collections of what I've dug and so I figure I attracted the following coins.

Father in law gave me an Indian Head cent and a 1943 steel penny.

Charlie who is more into colonial finds sent me 5 sweet silvers that he dug.

My son was helping someone throw some trash out, and being like me he looked into the bag and found an old zippo style lighter box in the trash. He pulled it out and wa-la it held many coins, so he them to me as a birthday gift.

I also got a buffalo nickel as change from a vending machine at work and the dime was on top of one of the vending machines.

Even though I am a coin shooter I do like to pull some bling. The items on the left are silver, upper right are gold and the rest are junk.

Over the year, many relics have been recovered. The pic below are what I consider my best relics

Relics




The stuff that helps fund my upgrades and other hobby related gear is the clad I dig. All coins get cleaned, rolled and deposited into the hobby account. The Zincs and copper pennies got cashed in using the coin star and then deposited. The coin star rejected $3.54 of the $8.04 zincolns and 19 copper pennies of the $12.66 ran through the machine.

Thanks deeshed It was the year of the big coins. The Chinese coin was cut in half by my shovel It was minted between the late 1600s and early 1700's (only worth about $2.50 if it was in great condition).

thanks beerguy, do me a favor, think of the coin you'd like to dig this year. Now just set it in your mind that you WILL find it. Many of my keepers are dug when I grid old permissions, but some have been found when I was on auto pilot going on gut feeling. This year I had a Morgan and a class ring on my mind for the whole year, I just knew I was going to find one of each. Fast forward to a hunt 12/24/16 I pulled 2 firsts. The Morgan and the class ring. Know it will happen, believe it will happen, and it will happen.
