Just got back from another long business trip to find my car buried in snow and ice at the airport, so it's time to wrap up 2017.

99% of these finds where from lost old farm homes in the woods in W PA. This completes my second year detecting.

Coins First.

Wheat Pennies
(166 this year, you know what they look like)

Wow... so great a year...

In the 2nd pic marked "Coppers/KG/LCs" The coin with the US in the middle, is that a Nova? Love to see better pics of it both sides :)

Thanks

Yes, the Nova might be my best find in 2017, I'll attach pics. Actually for some reason, I can't upload pics, gives me a warning that I don't have permission?

That's a heck of a year Thad. I always say you get out of this hobby what you put into it. You really hit it hard this year and were rewarded with all those finds. You found more seated silver in one year than I have in my career.

Thx Steve! I spent a big chunk of time researching the public lands within a 10 min drive of my workplace and my home. It was fun to dig into old maps and aerial photos of these communities and start to become a pseudo expert on the history of these areas. Once I understood the history, the "treasure maps" often ended up being the same street signs I've driven past for decades... Fort Couch Road in Pittsburgh actually leads to a long lost 1700's fortification site. It's been fun, next year will be a new challenge as the nearby spots are now cleaned out, but I have my eye on where to expand the research zone.

Fort Couch, another site lost to "progress". That area is so developed no one will ever find a relic from Fort Couch.
