Firstly our usual thanks to Land-Mag for his continued support (& of course Cru'dad for his hundreds of hours spend researching & recording).:thumbsup:

As Cru'Dad keeps very detailed stats it's very easy to break down the year however you like; by month, by field, by type of find etc...
This year was one of our lowest years in terms of hours spend detecting. I only did 100 days compared to 118 last year & our combined totals was as follows;
Cru'dad; 401.75 Me; 434.50 Combined; 836.25 hrs
We normally do in excess of 1000 hours however this year we had our best finds per hour ratio which really proves we are on our game, spending the hours wisely in the right places. Not easy. First year we have had more Roman Bronze Coins than Buttons!
Part of our success is finding new Sites & this year we found 3 new Roman Sites, not great ones but it does add new unknown (Archaeologically speaking) sites to our map which now has just over 40 Roman Sites.

This table is just a tiny fraction of the data Cru'dad has GPSed:
Coin/Artefact Type2011201220132014201520162017

Other Gold coins0120120
Hammered101654966526428
Buttons263520691357155712551277884
Overall it was a very bad year for hammered silver coins & the buttons were low however;
Best ever year for Saxon Sceats
Best ever year for Celtic Bronze Coins
Solid result in Roman Bronze & Silver Coins

Highlights included;
TREASURE: High Status Silver Gilt Pilgrims Badge of St George & the Dragon (in the mist of being acquired by the local Museum)
TREASURE: Complete Roman Silver Ring (in the mist of being returned & disclaimed by the British Museum)
New Emperor to the collection - Silver Siliqua of Flavius Victor
First complete Penny of Edward the Confessor (very rare)
A 2 Sceat day by me this Dec
Cru'dad's stunning Celtic Gold Stater

That Celtic gold stater is simply amazing! I’ve enjoyed seeing all of your and Crudads killer recoveries in 2017. I often don’t comment because I sound like a broken record as the finds are consistently top notch. But I am certainly always watching. Great job guys

Another great year of interesting posts from the Cru Team. Cru Dad has some obvious organizational skills. Can he be rented by the hour ? :laughing7:

Funny thing is we have had a few land-owners ask how much we charge for our services...lol One we refused who was keen to offer us money for the maps we produced.

Nice finds! Were you using the same detectors all those years? If so, or not, which machines were you using and which one(s) found the good stuff?

That nice complete ring is a good one. Seems like for ever intact Roman ring on here there’s a hundred fragments and bezels.

It was a great year for you and cru’dad. Quite incredible treasure unearthed.

All the years quoted I've used an XP. Started on the Goldmaxx Power & about 2 years ago swapped to the Deus. Cru'Dad is still using my old, old machine - Cortes. (the one before the XP)
Roughly speaking the XP finds about 70% of all our finds, however, once in awhile Cru'Dad gets an amazing show stopper.
