Seattle 10 year service tie clasp 10 k Gold

I found a Seattle 10 year service tie clasp. The emblem is marked W 1/16 10 k. Does that mean the emblem is gold plated?

It looks like it says 1/12 10k to me. At any rate, that mark means that it is gold filled, which is different from gold plated. A 1/12 10k gold filled object means that for every 12 grams of weight to the object, it would contain 1 gram of 10k gold.

Yes. What diggummup said. But just to be clear, the gold is still plated on the outside of the base metal, not in the metal.

Yes still plated but much thicker. Gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 17 to 25,000 times thicker than heavy gold electroplate (sometimes stamped HGE or HGP).

I live in Seattle and that's the logo for Seattle City Light and other city services..... (The picture is of Chief Seattle). Include this when you list it..... I would think about listing in the police badges section.....Nice find!
